Serge Ramin, MBA

Serge Ramin is a seasoned financial professional with a rich and diverse career spanning over three decades. His journey began with a solid educational foundation, earning an MBA from the prestigious Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, where he specialized in Finance and
Management. This followed his undergraduate degree in Accounting from the Ecole Superieure de Commerce de Paris (ESCP) in France.

Serge’s career has been marked by a series of challenging roles in the financial sector, each building upon the last to create a comprehensive skill set in areas such as asset management, risk assessment, research, and advisory services. His professional journey has taken him through some of the most respected names in finance, including Hudson Advisors, CQS, Bear Stearns, and his own venture, Basse-Pointe Advisors.At Hudson Advisors, the asset management arm of Lone Star Funds, Serge took on the role of Senior Vice President for Global Risk & Governance. Here, he established a new function overseeing a multibillion-dollar corporate private equity portfolio. His innovative approach led to the development of a robust risk assessment framework and a dynamic investment performance and valuation process that significantly improved efficiency.

Prior to this, Serge spent over a decade at CQS, a credit-focused hedge fund. Starting as a Senior Credit Analyst, he quickly rose to become Head of Research, leading a team of 14 analysts across three global locations. During his tenure, he oversaw notional corporate jump-to-zero exposure of more than US$100 billion across various investment strategies and sat on investment committees for multiple mandates. Serge’s experience also includes a stint as a Partner at Nyras Capital, where he focused on the commercial aviation sector, helping airlines navigate economic challenges and emerging competition.
At Bear Stearns, as a Managing Director, he played a crucial role in building the firm’s debt capital markets business in Europe, developing financing pitches for TMT clients and financial sponsors. Today, Serge channels his extensive experience and expertise into Basse-Pointe Advisors, a firm he
founded to provide advisory services and capital introductions. His focus is on fast-growing businesses in Europe, where he advises on valuations, fundraising, and communication strategies. He has been instrumental in securing commitments for various funds, including those focused on underrepresented entrepreneurs and sustainable investments. Beyond his professional achievements, Serge is deeply committed to community engagement. He serves as the Chair of the South London Gallery, a leading community-focused contemporary art museum and education institution. He is also the Treasurer of the American International Church in
London, further demonstrating his dedication to giving back to the community. Serge’s multilingual skills – he is bilingual in English and French and fluent in German – have undoubtedly contributed to his success in navigating the international financial landscape. As a French national with indefinite leave to remain in the UK, Serge brings a truly global perspective to his work.
